These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Kennington Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and related cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. By making a booking, accepting a quotation, or allowing our operatives to start work at your premises, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following expressions have the meanings set out below:
Client means the person, company, or organisation requesting or receiving cleaning services from Kennington Carpet Cleaning.
Services means carpet cleaning and any additional cleaning services that Kennington Carpet Cleaning agrees to provide.
Premises means the property or location where the Services are to be carried out.
Operatives means employees, subcontractors, or agents engaged by Kennington Carpet Cleaning to perform the Services.
2. Scope of Services
Kennington Carpet Cleaning offers carpet cleaning and related services within its defined service area. The specific Services to be provided will be set out in the quotation or booking confirmation. The Client is responsible for ensuring that the description of Services is accurate and meets their requirements.
Any additional work requested on site that is not included in the original quotation will be carried out at the discretion of Kennington Carpet Cleaning and may incur additional charges. Where practicable, these charges will be agreed with the Client before the additional work begins.
3. Booking Process
Bookings may be made by the Client through the contact methods advertised by Kennington Carpet Cleaning. A booking is only considered confirmed once the Client has received explicit confirmation from Kennington Carpet Cleaning. This confirmation may include the date and time of the appointment, a summary of the Services, and any applicable charges, including call-out or minimum booking fees.
Kennington Carpet Cleaning reserves the right to refuse any booking at its sole discretion, including where the Premises are outside the normal service area, where the work required is unsafe or unsuitable, or where the Client has previously breached these Terms and Conditions.
The Client must provide accurate information at the time of booking, including the size and type of areas to be cleaned, the type of flooring or surfaces, the presence of stains, heavy soiling, pets, or any particular access restrictions. Failure to provide accurate information may result in adjusted pricing, changes to the scope of work, or cancellation of the booking on arrival.
4. Access to the Premises
The Client is responsible for providing safe and suitable access to the Premises at the agreed date and time. This includes arranging parking where necessary and ensuring someone is available to grant entry, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
If the Operatives are unable to gain access to the Premises, or if the visit cannot proceed due to circumstances within the Client’s control, Kennington Carpet Cleaning may apply a missed appointment or late cancellation charge, as set out in the cancellation section below.
The Client must ensure that areas to be cleaned are reasonably clear of personal belongings, furniture, and other items that may obstruct the work. Where possible, small items and breakables should be removed, and valuable items stored safely. Kennington Carpet Cleaning will not be responsible for moving heavy or fragile items unless this has been agreed in advance.
5. Client Obligations and Preparation
The Client must inform Kennington Carpet Cleaning in advance of any known hazards at the Premises, including loose carpets, damaged flooring, exposed wiring, or other risks that might affect the safety of the Operatives or the effectiveness of the Services.
The Client must notify Kennington Carpet Cleaning prior to the visit if any members of the household or staff have allergies or sensitivities to cleaning products. Kennington Carpet Cleaning will use cleaning solutions that are suitable for typical domestic and commercial environments, but it is the Client’s responsibility to highlight any special requirements.
Where access to water and electricity is required for the Services, the Client must ensure that these utilities are available for the duration of the appointment, unless otherwise agreed.
6. Pricing and Quotations
All quotations are based on the information provided by the Client and the typical condition of carpets and surfaces. Quotations may be given as fixed prices, hourly rates, or minimum call-out charges, depending on the type of work.
Kennington Carpet Cleaning reserves the right to revise a quotation if, upon arrival, the condition, size, or nature of the work differs from that described at the time of booking. In such circumstances, the Client will be informed of any change in price before work proceeds. If the Client does not accept the revised price, Kennington Carpet Cleaning may cancel the appointment and may apply a reasonable call-out fee.
All prices are provided in pounds sterling. Any applicable taxes will be included in the quoted price unless clearly stated otherwise.
7. Payments and Invoicing
Payment terms will be communicated at the time of booking or in the quotation. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the Services on the day of the visit.
Kennington Carpet Cleaning accepts the payment methods specified in its current payment policy. The Client is responsible for ensuring that payment can be made using one of the accepted methods at the time payment is due.
For commercial Clients, Kennington Carpet Cleaning may agree to issue an invoice with specified credit terms. Invoices must be paid in full by the due date indicated. Kennington Carpet Cleaning reserves the right to charge interest or late payment fees on overdue amounts in accordance with applicable law.
Where a deposit is required to secure a booking, this will be communicated in advance. Deposits may be non-refundable in the event of late cancellation or failure to provide access, as outlined in the cancellation section.
8. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Appointments
The Client may cancel or reschedule a booking by providing reasonable notice. The minimum notice period for cancellation or rescheduling will be communicated at the time of booking. If the Client cancels or reschedules within the minimum notice period, Kennington Carpet Cleaning may charge a cancellation fee or retain any deposit paid to cover administrative and scheduling costs.
If the Operatives arrive at the Premises and are unable to gain access or commence work due to circumstances within the Client’s control, this will be treated as a missed appointment. In such cases, the full service fee or a specified missed appointment fee may be charged, at the discretion of Kennington Carpet Cleaning.
Kennington Carpet Cleaning reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to staff illness, vehicle breakdown, severe weather, or other events beyond its reasonable control. In such cases, the Client will be offered the next available appointment date, and any deposit paid will be transferred or refunded, at the Client’s option. Kennington Carpet Cleaning will not be liable for any consequential losses arising from such cancellations.
9. Service Standards and Limitations
Kennington Carpet Cleaning aims to deliver Services with reasonable care and skill. However, the Client acknowledges that certain stains, odours, or wear may be permanent and cannot be completely removed. No guarantee is given that all stains will be removed or that carpets and fabrics will be restored to their original condition.
Results may vary according to factors such as the type of fibre, age of the carpet or fabric, previous cleaning methods used, and the nature and duration of any staining or soiling. Operatives will use their professional judgment to select appropriate cleaning methods, but the Client accepts that some risk of colour loss, shrinkage, or damage may exist, particularly with older, poorly maintained, or previously damaged items.
Where the Client has provided information or instructions about the nature of carpets, fabrics, or previous treatments, Kennington Carpet Cleaning will rely on this information. It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure that such information is accurate.
10. Damage, Liability, and Insurance
Kennington Carpet Cleaning will take reasonable care when carrying out the Services. If accidental damage is caused directly by the negligence of its Operatives, Kennington Carpet Cleaning will, at its discretion, arrange for repair, replacement, or fair compensation, subject to the limitations in this section.
Kennington Carpet Cleaning will not be liable for:
Any pre-existing damage, defects, or wear and tear to carpets, rugs, upholstery, or other items, whether visible or not.
Damage arising from the Client’s failure to disclose relevant information, including previous cleaning methods, the presence of loose fittings, unstable furniture, or known issues with the flooring or fabrics.
Any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of opportunity.
Any damage caused by faulty materials, improper installation, or structural defects at the Premises.
The total liability of Kennington Carpet Cleaning for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Services will not exceed the total fee paid by the Client for the specific appointment during which the incident occurred, except where liability cannot be limited by law.
Kennington Carpet Cleaning maintains appropriate insurance cover in line with industry practice. Details of this cover are available on request.
11. Waste Handling and Environmental Responsibilities
Kennington Carpet Cleaning will handle waste water, residues, and other by-products of the cleaning process in accordance with applicable waste and environmental regulations. Operatives will not dispose of waste in a manner that breaches local waste disposal requirements.
Where the Services generate waste that must be removed from the Premises, this will be agreed with the Client in advance and may be subject to additional charges. In most cases, waste water and residues will be disposed of via appropriate drains at the Premises, provided it is lawful and safe to do so.
The Client is responsible for informing Kennington Carpet Cleaning of any restrictions on water use, drainage, or waste handling at the Premises. If specific disposal arrangements are required, these must be agreed before the booking date.
12. Health and Safety
Kennington Carpet Cleaning is committed to maintaining safe working practices. Operatives will use cleaning products and equipment in accordance with safety instructions and applicable legislation.
The Client must ensure that children, pets, and other occupants are kept away from areas being cleaned and from equipment and chemicals during the work and for a reasonable period afterward, as advised by the Operatives. Some surfaces may remain damp and slippery for a short time after cleaning; the Client must take appropriate steps to prevent slips or falls.
13. Complaints and Service Issues
If the Client is dissatisfied with any aspect of the Services, they should notify Kennington Carpet Cleaning as soon as possible and within a reasonable time after completion. Kennington Carpet Cleaning may request photographs or access to inspect the issue.
Kennington Carpet Cleaning will investigate complaints promptly and, where appropriate, may offer to re-visit the Premises to address any reasonable concerns regarding the quality of the work. Any such re-visit will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time. The availability of a re-clean or other remedy will depend on the nature of the issue and whether it falls within the reasonable control of Kennington Carpet Cleaning.
14. Personal Data and Privacy
Kennington Carpet Cleaning will collect and process personal data necessary to manage bookings, provide Services, and administer its business. This may include the Client’s name, address, contact details, and details of the Premises.
Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Information will be used only for legitimate business purposes and will not be shared with third parties except where necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, or where the Client has given consent.
15. Amendments to These Terms
Kennington Carpet Cleaning may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in law, industry practice, or its business operations. The version in force at the time of the Client’s booking will apply to that booking.
The latest version of these Terms and Conditions will be made available on request. Continued use of the Services after notification of changes will constitute acceptance of the updated terms.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or the Services provided by Kennington Carpet Cleaning.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held by a court or competent authority to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severed, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with any written quotation or booking confirmation issued by Kennington Carpet Cleaning, constitute the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the Services and supersede any prior discussions, correspondence, or understandings.
No variation of these Terms and Conditions shall be effective unless agreed in writing by Kennington Carpet Cleaning.
